Baseball
Baseball is one of the most traditional games in America. The baseball sport is both tough and emotional game. Baseball League starts on Thursday. On Thursday, the umpires will allowed to check Replay ball video on home run calls in Baseball.
The instant video will be used only for boundary calls. The baseball commissioner Bud Selig told one announcement “Like everything else in life, there are times that you have to make an adjustment”.
Most of the problems come with potential home runs and fly balls over the fence. For that reason Selig introduced the “instant video option”. This is very useful to finding out whether balls went over the fence and decides the fly balls were fair or foul. Three series scheduled will start on Thursday. The places are Minnesota at Oakland, Philadelphia at the Chicago cubs and Texas at the Los Angles. The “Replays” is available for these three games.
At first, the NFL used replay in 1986, NHL in 1991 and NBA in 2002. After that, the technology has developed and since 2006 this technology used for on line calls. Nowadays people can run out over the outfield and catch balls. Fan interference is the more and more in nowadays game.
Detroit pitcher Kenny Rogers called the decision "a slap in the face of umpires that have been here for a long time" and said the decision might have been made because Alex Rodriguez lost a home run on a blown call May 21.
"It overshot the mark by far just because, what, in a Yankee game someone didn't get a homer? Please. It's happened thousands of times," Rogers said. "That's part of the game. It's the beauty of the game. Mistakes are made."
